Selection criteria for chest freezers
Toptenuk.org presents the most energy-efficient chest freezers on the UK market.
Technical criteria
Toptenuk chest freezers must meet the following criteria:
- Energy efficiency class according to the UK energy label: A to E
- CFC and HFC free
- Available on the UK market
Sequence
The order is based on the energy efficiency index - see below for further information about this figure.
Terms/glossary
Model
Exact model name
Annual energy consumption (kWh/year)
Electricity consumption in kilowatt hours (kWh) per year, according to the energy label.
Estimated electricity cost per year
According to the following assumptions:
- Electricity tariff 20.062p/Unit (Energy Saving Trust figure)
- Annual energy consumption according to the energy label
Total net volume
Total usable capacity in litres of all compartments.
Cooling volume(l)
Usable capacity of the refrigerator compartment in litres.
Freezer volume (l)
Usable capacity of the **** freezer in litres. **** Freezer items are -18 ° C or colder and have a minimum freezing capacity, which is specified in the product declaration in the brochures.
Height, width, depth
Dimensions of the product in centimetres (cm).
Energy rating (efficiency class)
 | The efficiency class is shown as according to the UK energy label. The UK regulations (adopted from the EU) define the classification range for refrigerators and freezers as A (lowest consumption) to G (highest consumption). The classification must be indicated in the brochures and in shops (instore and online). |
Classification for refrigerators and freezers
The table below shows the energy efficiency index (EEI) for the division into energy efficiency classes. Since the class limits for each device must be calculated separately due to the device type and the contents of the fridge and freezer compartments, the information is not given in kWh.
Classification for refrigerators and freezers (according to Commission delegated regulation 2019/2016)
|
Class A | EEI ≤ 41 |
Class B | 41 <EEI ≤ 51 |
Class C | 51 <EEI ≤ 64 |
Class D | 64 <EEI ≤ 80 |
Class E | 80 <EEI ≤ 100 |
Class F | 100 <EEI ≤ 120 |
Class G | EEI> 120 |
Efficiency index
According to the energy label. The lower the value, the better the efficiency of the device.
Climate Class - Location
The ambient temperatures (in degrees Celsius) required for the installation and optimal use of the devices. These can be seen as climate classes on the nameplate and in the goods declaration.
Climate class | Ambient temperatures |
SN | + 10 ° C to + 32 ° C |
N | + 16 ° C to + 32 ° C |
ST | + 16 ° C to + 38 ° C |
T | + 16 ° C to + 43 ° C |
